Max is the mind behind ThermaGel’s next-generation aerogel—a material he has spent more than 20 years synthesizing and scaling for real-world applications. Backed by several million dollars in grants from U.S. federal agencies, he now leads our R&D programs and drives the company’s technological evolution.

Outside the Office
Max is a Professor of Physics and Director of the Nanomaterials Characterization Facility at VCU. When he’s not pushing the boundaries of aerogel science, you’ll find him sharing knowledge with students or tinkering with the next breakthrough in his lab.
